USAID-GEMS Trains the Trainers at LIPA

December 3, 2013

“The "Basic TOT" workshop enhanced my skills, knowledge and guided me in my quest to relate to a unique set of Adult Learners.  LIPA & USAID- GEMS' interest in focusing on the skills and knowledge-sharing techniques will definitely open new dimensions in facilitation.  As an "Adult Learner" facilitator, I can confidently reflect on the values and benefits the training has afforded me in meeting new objectives whilst adding dimensions to my capability as I envision new opportunities,” stated Paulette Findley, a participant at a Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop conducted in February at LIPA.

USAID-GEMS conducted three weeks of basic and advanced workshops for LIPA trainers. An average of 31 participants attended both workshops, including LIPA staff and adjunct trainers.  Basic and Advance TOT Workshops comprised of intensive review of principles, approaches and techniques in training, with a particular focus on adult learning. The Adult Learners participated in group discussions, made interactive presentations, and were given exams to assess the achievement of learning outcomes. Basic TOT participants received certificates at the end of the workshop.
